Texas Rangers reliever Danny Coulombe got to return home this week as his team made a swing through Chase Field for a three-game series against the Diamondbacks. The former Chaparral High School All-American battled through multiple college injuries and continues an impressive MLB career that has spanned over a decade.
Just a few miles east of Downtown Phoenix, his little league catcher and friend – oh, and current ASU head football coach – Kenny Dillingham is preparing the Sun Devils to hit the road for SEC country and Mississippi State.
The two go back to North Scottsdale Little League, and they graduated together in the class of 2008 at Chaparral High School together. While they continue to thrive in their respective sports, they continue to root for each other after all these years.
They caught up with Sports360AZ about the roots of their friendship, seeing each other accomplish so much at the highest levels and how one game in eighth grade could have dramatically changed Kenny Dillingham’s football path.
